July 23th, 2009; that'll be me I'm Reiven, or at least Reiven is someone I wish I was IRL especially in the name department. I live in Malaysia, in a little village a stone throw away from the beach. That said, I stepped foot on the sandy shores of the beach for the first time in 3 years just last December to watch my little brother in the surfing contest. I'm a girl, going on 23 (in June Friday the 13th) and believes in agnosticism. When I'm not on the internet--which comes to approximately...never, I enjoy listening to music by the relatively unknown Dutch band: Within Temptation. My taste in music, as well as movies, series and anime, change rapidly with the tide and my fashion choices. At the moment, I'm really enjoying the British teenager series, Skins and as far as anime is concerned, I have once again returned to my biggest and favourite fandom: Beyblade. Ode to joy! Maybe if I stopped being such a dork on the net, I might even have a chance at getting a life. But I can't help it. Male characters turn me on, but the guys IRL just switch me off and completely disconnects the plug. Ah, well. A man in my dreams is as good as any. this is my enjoyment in life It would be relatively pointless to say that I love fanfiction, as much as it is already obvious. It would not be pointless to say that I enjoy Good fanfiction. It's such an important criteria that it warrants a capital 'c'. I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but then why is it so hard to find any? 9 out of 10 stories in the Just In pages have the word OC in the summary, some horribly embellished female name in the 'character bio at the top of the page' in the first chapter and an imminent threat against ones intelligence looming in the background. It's scientifically proven (by me) that badfic = health hazard. I consider myself a picky reader. If the summary doesn't grab me, I won't ever click on the story (unless it's bad in an earth-shaking, volcano-erupting, fire spewing from the skies-bad. But that's just me asking for it). And if I can't feel the story by the end of the first paragraph of the first chapter, I find myself lunging head-first, arms stretched and teeth gnashed for the back button. I'm just that picky. Hey, in this day and page, one has to be to keep their sanity and grammatical ability intact. Did I mention that I have a flair for dramatics? (Stating the obvious much, says I.) Now, my number one--still standing and newly revived with the burning passion of a thousand suns--most loved pairing is Kai/Tala from Beyblade. Although, I'd read any pairing from that fandom if it was well written...I don't know about Boris/Voltaire, but--hey, maybe that's just me. My second most loved pairing is character/friendship from any fandom pretty much. My third favourite is a mish-mash, dibble-dabbling from any fandom I'm familiar with. I'm an easy to please person...unless the story is horrific beyond repair and the characters act like a Shakespearean play on drugs, but that's a whole 'nother bucket of eggs. I'm at the peak of my day when I find a good ol' hardcore angst story, but there shan't be any deaths. Characters in my favourite fandoms are immortal and are immune to being killed off by mere fanfiction, or even by the creators. Whenever that happens, I will stick my fingers in my ears, hum along to an annoying TV jingle and refuse to acknowledge the plot change. It's nice living in my own little world. You should try it sometime. When I'm not crying (read: blubbering like a simpering ninny) along to a touching/sad scene in the aforementioned angst story, I really like In-Character humour ones. The ones that are, yanno, in-character. Not an epiphany-inspired, sugar-high plot you cooked up while clipping your toenails or trimming your pubes (read: eww). In short: if you've had too much a combination of soda, chocolate, candy and exposure to badfic, stay away from the keyboard. Again, proof that badfic = health hazard. and last but not least The story status of my long standing fics, because I know all of your are just dying to find out what the hell I've been doing with my time when I should be updating. Revising. That's what I've so totally been up to, you know. As the Ice Breaks: Yes, it's a completed fic, but as far as quality goes, it's so far from completion that it could have been in another era. I'm now up to chapter 7 of my complete rewrite! So look forward to the new and improved version coming to monitors near you soon...maybe...I hope. As the Fire Burns: Same as above, except that I'm only up to chapter 5 or so. I should mention that this one has more words per-chapter that the previous, but that's just me giving excuses. The chapters for both stories have also gotten longer. Howling to the Moon: Halted for the time being while I focus on the first two. Heart of the Game: See Howling to the Moon. A Change of Heart: This too is going through a complete rewrite! but see also Howling to the Moon. And another thing, stories that have the 'pairings stated in the summary' is (obviously) a story with romance between the two characters (obviously). Stories that have 'Gen-fic' in the summary is one that has no romance whatsoever, stories that have neither is caught in between/I didn't know how to label it at the time and stories that focus on one character is labeled 'so and so character-centric'.
