Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well I guess I can give this a go. I've proof-read several of my friend's stories before, and, much to her eternal annoyance, always seem to be able to spot the mistakes, so I'm good with that. I've a good grasp of grammar (and if I don't, my mum corrects me -_- but that's rare). I can spell... But then, so can Word's dictionary, supposedly. (Man I hate that thing.) I like plot twists and effective cliffhangers, and would like someone to read *my* stories sometimes... It would be nice if people reviewed, really it would. I'd like to beta stories that are already *reasonably* well written... For example, some of my younger brother's stories have grammar that is so bad it makes me want to jump into the nearest available bottomless pit. Luckily for my life, there aren't very many of those around my area. XD. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar and spelling. I have an A* GCSE at English language if that says anything (which it probably doesn't...). |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Hmm. I'm not certain I'd be too good at characterisation. I like OOC-ness sometimes myself. But I try to keep my own stories in character and I can spot basic things. (Like, say, if Kratos and Zelos from ToS swapped personalities. Man would that be weird.)
I can't really write *all* that well in 1st person, but I can read it still and correct it. Heh. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Stories about games I know, one would think. Tales of Symphonia, Baten Kaitos (NOT Origins, haven't played that yet), Final Fantasy VII (And its offshoots) Final Fantasy IX I suppose. Fire Emblem 7 - 9. Some types of yaoi I'm ok with, but ask first, I've got weird tastes XD |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Yuri, I hate it. No offense to those who like to write it intended, however. Certain types of yaoi, like I said. (As in, I only like some pairings and not others). I like all sorts of genres of story however. |
