Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
First of all I want to mention that I'm from Sweden, so my English is obviously not 100% perfect.br /
br /
When I beta-read I first and foremost try to keep an eye out for spelling- and grammar errors since I know how easy it is for an author to slip up at times.br /
br /
I also make sure to point out if I don't think there's a good flow in the story (bad structure, choppy, too much dialog and things like that).br /
br /
I try to analyse your way of portraying the characters as well, so I can tell you if I think they're being too out of character (unless you actually want them to be OOC). |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My main strength is probably spotting problems with the flow of the story. I'll tell you if I think the story is being too choppy, if your sentence structure can be better and other things that affect the flow of your story. It is important that the reader feel that it's not too difficult to read.br /
br /
I also pick up in spelling and grammar errors quite easily, even though I'm Swedish. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I guess that must be that English isn't my first language.br /
br /
I've been learning English since 1998 so I'm quite good. But there's a risk that I wont spot all grammatical errors. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I can beta pretty much anything. br /
br /
But I do prefer shounen ai/yaoi. Perhaps yuri as well.br /
br /
Angst, horror, romance, hurt/comfort, drama and such genres are something I like a bit more than others. I do also have a huge love for stories that actually mess with your head, to use psychology in a story is really nice. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Shota, incest (with few exceptions).br /
br /
Also not too fond of stories revolving around straight pairings. I might consider it depending on what pairing it is. |
