Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hallo, everyone. I'm a fairly happy camper, so you can come to me with a story at practically anytime I'm available, and since I'm so easy to get along with, you hopefully won't hate me. Style of mine is... eh... I'm not sure what to say for it. I just correct and revise (and repeat). My expectations of YOU, however, are to be at least somewhat literate. I will not beta a story in "txt tlk", or anything illegible... I'm not THAT patient. Otherwise, I'm pretty much open for anything. I'm also a Grammar Nazi (but I still make mistakes, myself)... so that's also a pet peeve of mine. Actually, I'd say I'm more of a Spelling Nazi. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Well... strengths... Heh, uhm, well, I guess I'm average/average plus at everything there is when it comes to beta-ing. I'm like a Grammar Nazi/Spelling Nazi (I know I've already said this), but I do miss some every now and then (who doesn't, really?). But I'm pretty reliable, and a good speller. ;D And I really do enjoy being a beta reader (it's a plus at times; I get to see it first, usually!). I don't know if it's considered a strength, but if I enjoy reading the story while going over it, I work even harder trying to help. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weakness(es) is that I'm a 'quicky', as I call it. I try to type faster than I think up the words, or read faster than I can register, which will sometimes result in error. But I always go back over it... and sometimes still miss things. But I do try to cover up those mistakes. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer anything with at least a couple, especially one I like. I will beta stories I don't like the couples of... sometimes. It depends on the story itself, too. But I'll beta anything from sappy to rape (crude, maybe, but oh well). I would really prefer, however, stories like the ones I write myself (subject/character/couple-wise). I know the subject, and can be a bitch when something's wrong and tell you about it. xD I know that's a bit harsh, but I'm usually just kidding. Depends on how bad it is! Ha-ha. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I usually abhor stories where the main character is with a 'Mary Sue' or 'Gary Stu', so I will turn down those offers. Again, it may depend on the story and if I like it (so I may consider it). It's all pretty much 50/50 with me. I also will not beta a story on a subject/anime/show, etc. that I have never seen or heard of. Ask me first, and I will tell you. Or, I might do some research and still beta it. You'll have to get back to me on that one. |
