Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Generally, as a beta reader I tend to be very precise. I often let the writer follow whatever path he or she chooses and when I do make a suggestion I am not upset if it is not taken. What I mean by precise is that I get the work done within a 48 hour period unless I otherwise arrange it to be longer for any reason. I make grammar corrections in the text and do not usually highlight them unless asked. If I add to a piece I indicate that by a change in color or in formatting and I do not delete anything with working with the author first. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm quick and generally accurate. In the shows or movies I write for I am generally in touch with characters, but I can and do go AU at times and will accept any characterization as supports by circumstances. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My worse area is grammar especially usage of the not so often needed punctuation. I will however research a rule if it is not clear to me what the proper usage is. I also tend to be a bit strict on the level of historical and/or cultural accuracy, but if indicated changes were made for story purposes I let it go. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Drama, Romance, Angst, medium to long stories. I do not like drabbles or stories less than 1000 words as a general rule though there are exceptions. I will read anything that is in the categories I am listed for, but I generally prefer fully outlined plots with many dimensions. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Drabbles, stories with outrageous plot lines (Magic, body shifting, etc.) |
