Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have never really been a beta-reader before. I've looked over some of the stuff my friends and younger siblings have done, but nothing too major. But I can guarantee that I'll do a good job reviewing your story. Want proof? Check out some of my fanfics. Expectations: understand that I will be critical of all spelling and grammar mistakes, and I may message you about parts in the story that don't connect or seem weak within the whole structure. But I will be fair, and will not judge your ideas or creativity. It's your story after all. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My spelling and grammar are perhaps some of the best. I will re-read something a million times, to make sure that there are no mistakes and that everything flows smoothly. Details are especially a favorite of mine, along with using a wider range of vocabulary. I like to know that I am giving enough of a description that my readers can easily picture what's happening. After all, that's what stories are in general: movies in our heads. And if they can connect to the characters, or even empathize with them, all the better. I want every reader to be satisfied when they are done; or at least have a base of argument to discuss with me. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes my need for details might lend me to rambling at points. Another problem, though very rare, is trying to squeeze too much into one sentence. Run-on sentences don't happen often for me, but I do find it difficult sometimes to end a sentence. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would prefer to keep to animes and books that I am more familiar with. Examples would be: Naruto, Harry Potter, Inuyasha, etc. After all, this is fanfiction, and I want to be able to properly assess your story as well as beta it. If I don't know the characters, I don't think I'll be able to do a very good job. I am not that fond of O.C characters in fanfiction either, but if you can give me a good basis of your character, then I'm all for it. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will never beta a Twilight story. Forgive me, but I won't. I'll probably never do a Buffy the Vampire fanfiction either, because I don't think anything could ever be as good as the actual series. Other than that, I don't have much qualms about what you want me to beta. |
