Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
This has got to be the hardest part of the Profile. Describe who you are as a beta-reader in 1000 characters. Well, I'll try my best.
I am a very simple person and I enjoy simple things. I also try to put things as simply as possible. When I do my betareading, I basically print out what is written and take a pen to it. I check for obvious spelling and grammar errors. Usually at the end I put some suggestions and/or my thoughts on the piece.
Basically, my only expectation is that if I write something that you don't like, don't act like I've just insulted you and your family. I know this for a fact that most writers are sensitive, I mean, I should know, I am one. You as the writer have the choice of either accepting my suggestions or rejecting them. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am a proud person. There I said it. I take a large amount of pride in my work. This can sometimes be a good thing or a bad thing.
To me, if the words don't flow, I have a problem with understanding the story. I try my hardest to make my writing flow, and hopefully have succeeded. (This is not me trying to sound pompous) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can hardly spell to save my life. I know that, so you don't need to tell me that five times.
My biggest problem is that I start out strong, and then slowly I start to loose my momentum. Take my writing for example. I started out really well, and then I just got lazy and stopped. But don't worry, I'm coming back soon, so don't worry. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I am a romantic at heart, so I prefer to beta romances, but I will beta almost anything you throw at me.
I also like humor... hint, hint. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I would perfer it if I wasn't given things with alot of action. I mean, a little action is alright, but if the story is all Rambo, I will have a very hard time with it. |
