Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
One thing is certain about my beta-reading style: it is not fixed. I give feedback according to what you ask of me. If you want honesty, then you should expect an analytical, blunt review. If you simply want some hints on how to improve your story and writing in general, I will correct the most prominent mistakes and tone my critique down.
I don't think that everyone has the same level of maturity as a writer, thus not everyone can accept the same level of criticism. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
If it counts for anything, I am a PI accredited beta (PI:9806309735), which means that I can handle most aspects of beta-reading adequately. However, in my experience so far, I am positive that giving feedback on style and characterization is what I'm best at. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Not being a native speaker of English, it is natural that I can only beta-read for writers whose first language is English. It is safe to say that I am knowledgeable when it comes to grammar/use of English. Still, I'm an expert at correcting expressions/idioms the same way a polar bear is an expert at making banana split. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I heart romance, humour and horror, but genre isn't much of an issue for me. I will beta anything as long as it's not extremely long. Also, I've always had a soft spot for stories with original concepts, and I don't mind lemons at all. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
When it comes to yaoi, I generally don't beta-read it. However, there is a chance that I will, if the ship is one of the few slash pairings I can enjoy reading about. SasuNaru from Naruto is one of them, mild Reno/Tseng from FFVII is another. If you're wondering whether I will beta your yaoi romance, then please PM me with the details. |
