Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am Hoodine, and I am a 20 year old student who wants to become a business/environmental lawyer. I read and write for a hobby as well as draw.
This is my first time being a beta reader for fan fiction. :)
There are multiple things that I look for while reading a fiction or a beta fiction which include things such as Content (story line, details, length), if it interests me or the general public. As well as basic mechanics, and spelling. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I can help you out in the language of Japanese (I am in classes for that and almost ready to go live there) so if there are words or sentences you want to use in your fictions (when appropriate) I can look over what you have written or have gotten off of translation sites/dictionaries to see if it is in the correct context. As well as foreign language proficiency I will be completely honest with you when I read over any writing I get and communicate with you all the way about what I am doing or what I think should be changed. I am also very imaginative and help who ever come up with multiple story routes or ideas if they are stuck.
Detail, I love it. To me that is what makes a story unique if not interesting if somethings (not everything) were described as such that. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Punctuation. I will not be able to catch you on placing periods, colons and other such things since I am so horrible at that myself. Along with problems with punctuation some times I get butter fingers while typing so I will misspell things though I will definitely catch my self after I made it. So I will not judge you if you have few things misspelled unless your entire fic is spelled in chat speak and horrible spelling then I will have to smack you. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I rather read Fan fictions that have some sort of storyline or idea behind it rather than some confusing/I am doing it because I can sort of spiel. romance and mystery are my favorites as well. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Stories that have, Mary-sues/Gary-stus, barely any content to to the story what so ever or those that jump around such as Some how magically the character your writing about is in love then suddenly, with out any story or detail, isn't in love with that person and is married to another person. I am not in to Yaoi so it would kill me to beta one.(sorry). and comedy : |
