Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hm.. Well, I try and be a fair reader but, like my friend Black-Dragon1003, I don't have much tolerance for unbased charcter bashing; however if you make whatever happens make sense (or it is a "crack fic") then it's acceptable. I try and read things thoroughly and help with brainstorming when necessary. I am also a bit of a stickler for grammar. And while I don't believe all OCs are Mary-Sues, if I'm reading a story with an OC and said OC becomes too annoying, I will not hesitate to point that out- that was one of the major problems with the first story I posted on here, and I got blasted for it several times. I'm not mean, though. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm good at finding grammar mistakes and fixing word choice so the story sounds better. I also can help make characters sound more "in character" if necessary. And as stated above, if you're stuck with a story, I can help you brainstorm. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can be a little intense sometimes when it comes to fixing mistakes; I go over my own work several times before turning it in/posting it, and I also run it past my own betas at least once because I know I can't catch EVERYTHING. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't really have a preference in regards to rating. However, I'd be a better beta to stories for series I've read before, included but not limited to InuYasha, YuYu Hakusho, Code Geass, Artemis Fowl, Tsubasa (Those with Wings), Mugen Spiral, etc., so that I have some background information on the story and know who the characters are ahead of time- just like a reader would. However, if I don't know the story, I can still try and help with grammar. |

As long as it's not just random character-bashing I should be okay with it. Don't really know what else to say here... |
