Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
When beta-ing, I read the entire thing once, then read again, slowly. I look for grammar and spelling errors, characterization, flow, and so on. I tend to be a picky editor, which is often what the author needs. I leave plenty of commentary letting the author know what I was thinking when I read their fic. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
The thesaurus is my best friend. If you overuse a word, I will find a replacement. I'm good at spelling; I don't always know the correct spelling, but I always know the incorrect spelling. I love simple eloquence, and words such as eloquence. :) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
In terms of storyline or plot, I don't always know what to say. If you have an area that needs special attention, I will look at it, but I don't always know what it needs. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Fluffy, romantic, humorous fics are love to me. Things that build gradually are good; relationships, plotline, etc. Adventure/action fics are good, angst is good... pretty much anything. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Anything too over-the-top is bad. Too much angst, too much smut, too much action... anything that is constant throughout the fic will quickly become boring to me. Too much of a good thing and all that. |
