Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a 25 year old student at CWU in Washington State, USA. I am very well read, and am a meticulous reader. I both read and write in a wide variety of fandoms, including Alien Nation, A Knight's Tale, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CHiPs, Christine Feehan, due South, Emergency, Firefly/Serenity, Harry Potter, Hercules:TLJ & Xena:WP, Highlander, JAG, Law & Order, Law & Order:CI, Law & Order:SVU, Lord of the Rings, MacGyver, Magnificent Seven, Man from UNCLE, Numb3rs, S.M. Stirling, Stargate:SG1 & Stargate:Atlantis, Starsky & Hutch, All Star Trek, All Starwars, SWAT Kats, All Steven Seagal, Supernatural, All Tamora Pierce, The Postman, The Sentinel, Without a Trace, and many, many others.
I am a very pro-active Beta. I will rewrite whole sections of a story as necessary to help the author express what I believe they are trying to say. I can be rather nit-picky as well.
I strongly dislike it when the author posts a story that I have Beta'ed before we both agree that it is ready. If you make changes after I edit a story, I expect you to send it back to me for another read-through. This way, the final version is polished and a credit to us both.
I can Beta for just about any fandom, but please send me a link to a canon summary with plotlines and character bios if it is in a fandom I may be unfamiliar with. |

I am good at correcting grammar, spelling, word usage, and flow. I may notice plot-holes if I am familiar with the canon for the fandom. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am not a fact-checker, although if I see an obvious error, I will point it out. I have been told that I have a fondness for commas, em-dashes, and the word 'that'. Once I've edited a story, I expect you to re-read it, don't assume that it is perfect and post it - you will post my editing notes as well. :)

Snuff (murder during sex).
Chan (adults paired with teens/pre-teens/children).
Most Anime.
Terrible, hopeless endings.
Excessive, unwarranted character bashing.
If you torture your character beyond the limits of the human body without a reasonable explanation of why it's possible, expect me to point that out. |
