Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I could probably be described as 'nit-picky' at best. My grandfather was an english teacher, so I am a bit of a spelling/grammar Nazi. Also, there are a few genres that I know better than almost anyone, so I have a keen eye for canon, at least in those pieces.
If I beta read your piece, you will probably have a very long and detailed comment about what you did wrong, what you did right, and my personal opinion of what you should do next. Sort of like a review in advance, but with the bonus of actually being able to fix the errors I speak of without annoying everyone by reposting a chapter to fix a semicolon.
If you wish for me to beta you, I require at least a 4th grade grasp of the english language, that you run your document through an electronic spell checker before giving it to me, and that you at least have intentions of finishing the story. I do not wish to contribute to another unfinished fanfiction. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are spotting spelling and grammar errors rapidly (especially in materials I did not write--if I've written them, I've gone over them at least four times in my mind, so I know how they're supposed to look, and don't pay much attention to how they look in reality) and have an--if I do say so myself--excellent grasp of several widely scattered canons. |

My biggest weakness is that, while the canons I know, I KNOW, those are few. There are many, many canons that I know nothing about. |

I would happily beta any story, but I have the canon memorized and can guarantee the most accurate critiques on stories in the realms of

and a few others that slip my mind, currently. But that is the bulk of the list. |
