Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta, I'm blantantly honest on what you need to improve on and what you're good at. I usually don't have time to actually sit down and beta-read tons of chapters, so I do it a bit at the time, and then think it over before I get back to you and actually report what needs redoing, what doesn't, etc.
Expectations? Well, you can't be too overbearing or pushy, but sometimes I DO need a little nudge to get things done, so...yeah. You can't be biased to the point of obsession, but having likes and dislikes is a must. Relatively normal people who know how to use dictionaries/thesauruses and spellcheck, basically. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm good at getting people out of the pit of self-pity, but I'm also good at inadvertantly throwing people into said pit. n-n; I excel at intergrating characters' personalities into AU representations, and I'm okay at symbolism. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I absolutely CAN NOT help hairsplitting, especially when it comes to spelling. Sorry, but that's just how it is. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer that I know about the series.
And know how the characters act.
But other than that, I'm game for anything. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
No High School Musical, thank you. Seriously, no.
No completely OC fanfictions either, thanks. One or two OCs is okay, but if you go overboard it just gets boring.
Het normally bores me, but some well-written het has managed to keep my attention. |
