Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm forgiving- up to a point. If you keep on making the same mistakes, I'll probably give up on you, at least for a while. I'm pretty good natured about things, but if you want me to be, I can tear your story a new one. Just dont ask me to tell you what you want to hear. You came for a beta, you're getting a beta.
You want a parot, go to a damn pet shop. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Sentance fluidity and elegance. If you dont want your fic to sound like a third grader wrote it, see me.
I also do really well on spotting those 'there'/'their'/'they're' and 'your'/'you're' issues. Same with 'then'/'than'. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling. SPELLING. SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLING! I usually get away with SpellCheck on this, so you're kinda on your own here. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I generally don't like to work on a story if you've not put effort into it. Now, that doesn't mean I insist on so many words, or so many chapters, or whatever. But if you come to me with a story that reads something like this:
"Kagome rushed to the door. It was Inuyasha. She loved hime. ther was lots of ppl. they Kissed. evrybody cheared!"
I'm going to send you packing. No matter /how/ long the story is.
I don't mind reading yaoi, yuri or hentai. But I might squeel a bit over somethings. So, be prepared for squeelishness. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
.... yeah, I really can't think of anything I won't read. That said, if all you give me is really heavy angst for a couple of months, I might ask for a breather, just so I don't go slit my wrists or something...
Some pairs make me squim, either because I just can't see the story happening (even fanfiction has it's limits), or I find it mildly disturbing. But you can always ask. The worst that'll happen is that I say no. |
