Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
When it comes to Beta-ing, I don't really mind what type of story the person is writing. All I ask is that the story be ran through a spell checker before it's given to me and that the person uses basic capitalization and punctuation rules, so that I'm not bogged down by small errors and not helping improve the actual content. I don't mind if a period is accidentally dropped here and there, but just don't be unreasonable. Other than that, I don't really mind.
When I Beta, I tend to put my stuff in parenthesis and possibly in another color, so that it doesn't get lost in the text of the original story. All of my comments are merely suggestions and it is up to the author to decide what to include. This is important to keep in mind when I'm suggesting description, for I will include more suggestions than are needed so the author needs. I may give 5 different ways to describe one object, when only 1 or 2 are needed. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm good at helping people improve their stories by suggesting areas they need work on, but also by naming things that were good about it. Even if I don't particularly like a story, I'll be able to find SOMETHING good about it. I'm also good at giving people suggestions on how to add more decription into what they're writing. |

I do know basic grammar, but if you want to get into the ins and outs of grammar, that's not my field. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
There really isn't anything I won't Beta. Any pairing, MPREG, Gender Bending, Yaoi, Yuri, Hentai, PWP, Gore, Vore, it matters not to me. In fact, the weirder the better! Though, I am a yaoi/gay/slash fangirl, so I'll definitely like that. I don't mind yuri/lesbian/femmeslash, since I find it interesting. I just don't have the love for it like I do yaoi/gay/slash. Hetero couples kind of bore me, but I will still beta them if asked. |
