Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have posted many of my own stories which I proof read myself, as well as those of my friends. I generally beta by first reading the story and fixing any errors that jump out at me, then i go through a second time to correct any less obvious errors. Sometimes this takes a couple of re-reads and edits. Finally I give it one last read trhough to ensure there are no grammer or spelling mistakes, and to make sure I myself havent created any problems. My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
In a standard novel I can read about 100 pages an hour. This means that I am able to have a relatively high turnover rate when stories are sent in. English is my first language, and due to avid reading I have a large vocabulary, and realtively good grammar. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
One of my weaknesses is that if I miss an error, I MISSED it. Once I miss it the first time I will never catch it. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer to Beta what I know, as in shows that I have watched, or books that I read. This includes Books: Harry Potter (complete series), Lord of the Rings (complete series), VC Andrews, Greg Iles, Tamora Peirce. Movies/TV Shows :Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galactica (Old and New series), Charmed, Gilmore Girls, MASH, MacGyver, Smallville Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Star Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY), Supernatural and any other series of this type I have forgotten. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
