Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a first-time beta, but am a long-time writer and reader of fanfics. I believe in high-quality writing, and can be a bit picky and critical with things, but if you're looking for a good editor, I promise I'm your girl. I'm currently entering my fourth year of university on Canada's east coast. My major is in science, but I take a fair share of arts courses, most of which are writing-intensive. So I have plenty of practice with proper grammar and such. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am a good writer, and have a sharp memory. I'm also not afraid of research. I have a broad general knowledge base, and am open to new ideas and creative settings. I'm not afraid of taking on a challenge, and generally tend to be fairly timely with things. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I expect a lot from people. If you don't believe in your story, chances are you don't want me to be critical of it. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer stories that focus on character growth and relationships between characters. I like stories with decent plot lines and reasonable events. In terms of pairings, I prefer to read the following:
Buffy: Buffy/Spike
Firefly: River/Jane, Mal/Inara
10th Kingdom: Wolf/Virginia
Though I'm fairly open to anything that seems remotely canon (that holds for Angel especially). |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
No slash. And nothing wildly sexually explicit or violence-based. I'm a character and relationship person, so if your story is all action and no plot, I'm not the one to read it. Also, I expect relationships to be reasonable, even if not canon. E.g. If you write Buffy fics, don't expect me to edit an M-rated story about Spike and Xander. It's just not going to happen. |
