Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
First thing's first: I expect you to be ready to receive criticism and respond to it accordingly. I don't want to be faced with a combative person. You want help on your story? Well you got it. That means that I really don't want to hear you complaining about something. Good, now that the mean stuff is out of the way. =)
I'd like it if you told me a bit about the story, about your outline for it, and what you foresee, what you want to happen. That way I won't give you a suggestion that is totally off. Lol.
What I'll do for you is make sure that the characterization isn't too off from the basic outline the author created. I will accept no stories that wish to change the person completely because that's not cool. Someone thought very long about those characters and it's not right of you to want to rearrange them. There's a site for originals, okay? Okay. I will also look for any glaring grammar mistakes (I am no the best at grammar but there are some things I notice) and I'll put your spelling through the ringer. This means at least three spell checkers. =) I don't like spelling mistakes.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm legit with spelling, not going to lie. I know what I'm doing with the English language, it's something I really love. I'm even considering double majoring in it. (History is my true love and that's my first pick right now.) I will be able to point out major flaws in the plot and gaping holes that need fixed. |

I'm not too good with grammar but there are things I will notice right away. I'm bluntly honest when it comes to your work and I guess people might find it rude or whatever. I just think that if you want my help, you want to hear what I really think, right? I'll give it to you. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Harry Potter and Twilight are perfectly fine with me. I also enjoy Holes fanfiction and I'd love it if you have a good one that I can enjoy and help you with at the same time. =) Anime: D N Angel, Full Metal Alchemist, Fruits Basket, Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, and Naruto. There's others buuuuut I'm too lazy to write them. Basically, just send it my way and I'll let you know if I'll go for it.
I like Romances, tragedies, angst, and basically anything that is a thought provoking or tear jerking story. Also, I can do funny. Funny is good. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Characters that are a bad ass just for the sake of being a bad ass. Get the hell out of here. Not everyone is like that.
I do not advocate rape, anorexia/bulemia, or bullying of any kind. I don't want to read a story about your high dramas either. Thank you.
For the love of all that is holy, if you send me a story where the character has YOUR name, YOUR FRIENDS name, or A NICKNAME that YOU OR YOUR FRIEND uses I will cry. That is a Mary Sue. Mary Sues will be shot. |
