Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I read a lot, and I write even more. I really enjoy reading stories other people have read. If I am a beta for a story, I will often go through it much like I would if I was editing one of my own stories: I read it, then I go through it again, this time fixing any grammar or phrasing mistakes, and if the author permits me, I just might add a few sentences here and there to make the story more complete. But, if you want me to just fix errors, then I will most certainly do that. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm very good at picking up spelling and phrasing errors. If a sentence doesn't sound right, I can fix it. And I like to rewrite sentences to make them flow. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I miss the smaller grammar issues: a misplaced comma here, a sentence fragment there, you get the idea. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer stories of a medium length, with a lot of detail and well developed characters and settings. Fantasy, drama, romance, and adventure are my favorites. There must be lots of conflict and excitment, but not an overload amount. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't like stories with chapters that are too short or last forever. I'm willing to beta longer chapters, but it will take me much longer. I will also not read stories that involve Mary Sues, unless it is meant to be funny. Also, if a story isn't exciting, I will get bored and stop beta-ing the story. |
