Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hey there! :) Thank you for considering me as a possible Beta Reader for you fiction. Keep on reading to learn more on how I plan to judge and help you with your work!
As most any writer does, I started out as a reader. I always enjoyed finding new worlds in books and stories, meeting unique characters and joining them in an epic story that put me on the edge of my seat, or a comical fiction that tickled my funny bone. I learned how a story is put together with clever phrases and specific useage of words, and how character personalities are revealed through descriptive actions or hilarious wisecracks. It's easy to become absorbed in the world of writing and reading when you learn you can bring your imagination to life with tools as simple as a pencil, paper, and an idea.
Needless to say, I was drawn into that world when my own ideas itched to be put into writing. It was an extremely rough start, as I had no experience in writing, but I continued my quest at the desire to become an author. I continued reading, learning new ways to describe character feelings and actions just by witnessing the style of an experienced and talented writer. Before I knew it, my writing improved with every idea and story I authored, and I was eager to continue improving.
If anything, I believe that is what makes a good Beta Reader. Someone who enjoys reading, does it often, and finds themselves beginning to recognize a good piece of writing from a bad one. This is why I believe I have become a skilled Beta Reader without even anticipating it. However, I have only Beta read published stories I selected myself for my own reading pleasure, and have not yet had the honor of Beta Reading by someone's request. So, although I find my skills worthy of testing, I am still a beginning Beta Reader because of my lack of experience with people requesting me to read their stories. But I sincerely hope you would like to have me sample and honestly Beta Read your story so I can have the privelege of giving you as much friendly, constructive criticism as you wish. Don't worry, I won't flame you. I'd rather give you honest opinions and help if you want it, as I have been labeled 'Too Nice' by some.
Anyway, I apologize for the winded life story XD. I only wish you to know more about me so you can decide for yourself if I could be a good Beta Reader for your stories. So, I will be rating your work by the following:
Spelling: Correct spelling.
Grammar: Correct use of puncuation marks, paragraph seperation, and variety of words and phrases.
Description: How much a scene, place, character appearance, etc. is described and how well.
Storyline: Originality and how well the events connect to make the storyline convincing.
If you've found my profile fitting enough to allow me to Beta Read your work, I sincerely look forward to reading it! The rest of this profile will tell you more of my strengths and weaknesses in writing and Beta Reading, and the types of stories I will accept. If you have any questions, never hesitate to send me a message, and I will get back to you as soon as I can! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Spelling errors, bland grammar and chips in storylines are easy for me to spot. I will point those out if I find any in your work, and will do my best to help you in every way possible!
Sometimes Beta reading is much easier than writing. But I've improved immensely in my writing and continue to do so everytime I author a new story. I am finding more clever ways to use phrases and a wider variety of words, hopefully making my work more pleasing to the eye. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My only problem in Beta Reading may be my selective interest. I am not the kind to read ANYTHING put in front of me. If I attempt to read a fanfiction based on a show or movie I've never seen or do not enjoy, my opinion would be useless. So please read my Beta Preferances to see the types of stories I accept. If you have any questions regarding it, feel free to send me a message.
Longer description may be where my weakness currently lies in writing. But there is always room for improvement, and I plan to invite it when I see it. |
