Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well, I'm gonna say it straight. I constructively criticise people. But I won't be a bitch about it--I'll just say what I think, and I will give you positive AND negative (i.e: what you can work on) feedback. I'm not gonna be one of those people who never tells you where you've gone wrong, because that won't achieve anything. But wow. I probably sound really scary. Well, um, I'm not. My expectations are that you proof-read your work before sending it to me. I don't mind if there are grammar and spelling mistakes that you've missed, but I would like it if you went over it briefly beforehand! Just makes it easier for me. XD My betareading style is to focus on grammar and sentence structure: I ensure that it's easy to read for people, and that you can also understand it. I'll give you tips on improving sentence structure, but nothing's set in concrete, so you can either take my advice or keep it how you like it. I'll also make sure that you don't have any mistakes in your work. I may occassionally give you tips on style of writing, but this will be very rare, as I respect everyone's individual writing style and I definitely won't impose my own on you! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are noticing flaws in dialogue, sentence structure, paragraphing, grammar, and general comprehension of the fanfiction. I will be able to help you improve any of these things if you need help with it! XD |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses are probably sometimes missing misuse of words. Not in a grammar sense, because I almost always pick up on your/you're and there/their/they're, but in a sense of miskeying words while typing. Of course, I will go over your work as much as I can to try and prevent this from happening--I will also read it once you've put it up on the web, and if I spot anything, will inform you. (I'll try my best!) |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't really have any particular preferences. I will beta-read any story, whether it be slash, femmslash, lemon/lime, het, gen or any other genre. I don't necessarily read all these genres when perusing ffnet, but I DO believe in giving everything a fair chance, and have nothing against any particular type of story. Pretty broad-minded, in that respect. |

I will beta-read almost anything. There's nothing I've discovered so far that I won't, so here's hoping it doesn't happen! XD |
