Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm twenty-two years old and chasing an art degree and loafing around Florida while looking for adventure. I write things in my spare time, and though while I'm still struggling to find my own style, I've gotten good at helping others pick through theirs first. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm very strict with spelling and tenses. If I know a series well, I'll be more likely to nitpick characterization into the ground. And while I tangent a lot in some of my own work, I'm good with checking the flow of a story (It's like drawing, where you can appreciate fine art without being able to produce the stuff yourself). |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I waffle a bit with my own sentence structure, so I'm not sure how I'd handle someone elses. Also, my schedule gets a bit hectic sometimes, so my return time might be a bit slow. Anything tossed out my way should definitely be returned within the week though. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
For characterization purposes, I'm better with anime and games--with a growing sect of knowledge in DC comics, focusing on the Flash, Green Arrow, and to a lesser extent, the Bat family.
I have absolutely no trouble with yaoi, yuri or het. I love humor and fluffy things, and have no problem with a dash of angst. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Generally, I don't like to read anything with OCs in centralized positions, or any OC/canon character fics. So as point, It's difficult for me to beta them without cringing or becoming overly critical of characterizations. For anime and gaming, I try to stay away from AUs as well. I'm willing to make an exception for the comics, though. Also, please no massive multi-parters. |
