Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I like to see people's stories improving after each piece of writing that is added to their name!
When I betaread, I will go through the story once to get a sense of what it's about. After that, I will go sentence by sentence, writing a detailed review of what has been well done and things that could be improved upon, as well as suggestions about how to improve them. On the main story, I will fix minor spelling and grammar errors, highlighting what I've changed so that you can learn from your mistakes. I will then send both documents to you through email for revision before you post the final work.
For your part, I expect you to willingly accept constructive criticism as well as praise. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am very good at pointing out and fixing issues with spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I may miss plot details, leading to possible continuity errors being left in the work. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I will beta most stories, regardless of the fandom. However, I will be more able to interpret the plot if it's one I'm familiar with (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Star Wars, and various animes). I am willing to do a bit of research on an unfamiliar fandom in order to appropriately understand the characters and events, however. AU is also fine. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I really don't like yaoi/yuri, intensive sex, or a lot of swearing. In some cases, I may beta them, but most likely I'll say no. Also, I am not fond of original characters. There are too many Mary-Sues in this world for me to even want to consider reading OC fics. |
