Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I can't say I have a vast amount of experience betaing, but the few authors I have helped, I've been told I've done a wonderful job. I'm actually the best at critiquing for pairings I DON'T like when it comes to romance, which is I'm sure an odd little tidbit about me. I strive for proper grammar and punctuation and have a nasty habit of pointing out sentences ending in prepositions (a pet peeve, if you will). I starve for a lack of mechanics and ambiguity, but I'll also let you know when you're being too confusing, or when things stop making sense. Anything of a dark nature is, undoubtedly, my favorite, but I also work with fluff, and ... well, I'll beta anything, really. Please just have strong ideas, plenty of enthusiasm, and some intrigue to your story, and I'll be more than happy to help. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and punctuation (so I'd like to think). I'm very good at finding typoes (at least in other people's writing), and one of my favorite things to read is prose so, naturally, I'm good at betaing it, too. While I'm not good at writing chapter-fics, I am good at critiquing them and critical plots. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
British styles of writing, scenery descriptions, and dialogue are the first that come to mind. I can also be a bit too honest sometimes. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Dark themes and romance. But I'll beta anything. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Alternative Universe (AU) stories really just aren't my thing, especially featuring a non-canon education system (high school AUs). However, if these things are presented in a comprehensive manner, I'm not going to turn them down. |
