Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I believe it is always up to the writer if they take a beta readers advice or not. I am honest with my opinion, and will say what I honestly think. This being said, I don't force my opinion and I never intend to come across as harsh with my response. I will always try to specify what needs to be adjusted, and will try my best to make the story better while still keeping it yours. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I focus on creating the right mood for the piece of writing in question. I can tell when certain styles are appropriate or otherwise for the tone of the story. Vocabulary is another strength, as is clarity of expression. Also, I am more than willing to research any details I am unsure of, which I feel makes a story more believable, and often more intense. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling, punctuation and senctence structure are not fantastic, however I am capable. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I will only beta stories from certain fandoms (see profile for details of which I like). I like yaoi, and will read yuri, as well. I like angst and horror, although I'm better at the latter. I also have one very annoying preference: You can ask if you want, but I'll probably only beta one-shots, disregardless of length (i.e. I'll beta a really long one-shot, but not a story with very short chapters). |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I really don't like het (male/female) pairings, however i find them tolerable when they are a very minor part of the story (i.e. only receive a breif mention). I also dislike self-insert or OC stories where the character plays a main role. |
