Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello there. :) The name's Faye - a five-year author at here at FanFiction. I have had writing experiences dated back when I was in grade school, being part of the school paper (then, until now). Sadly though, I haven't had much time to write and update my stores during the past year because I had a lot of things to do in School. On the bright side, I am back to writing and I aim to finish all my unfinished fanfictions by the end of the year and eventually start new stories.
I do believe that I have capabilities on being a good beta-reader because I'm very precise on what I want and do not want to see in a certain literary piece. I like to engage myself with the main character/s of the story and understand their point of views. When I become your beta reader, I will see to it that I establish a connection between myself and your character and evaluate your story piece by piece.
By reading a lot of books and novels, seeing lots of movies and listening to different types of music, I can easily adjust from one genre to another, so I am pretty much flexible.
If you do wish to acquire my beta-reading services, expect me to be straightforward and blunt about your work. As a beta-reader, I will also be your critique so any misconceptions and errors you make, be sure that I point it out to you the way it's supposed to be. When I begin something, I don't keep still until I finish it because I don't like the idea of having people waiting, so expect me to finish as soon as possible. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I excel in lite-romance and humor genres, but as I said before, I am flexible. I am effective in beta-reading stories in the English language. I can do well with third-person point of view and even better with first-person, since it's the point of view I'd pretty much prefer using because it allows me to be in one with my characters best. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses are suspense, mystery and action, since I haven't really tried them before. Moreover, I am not very comfortable with using the second-person point of view so I don't think it's best to work with me if you have that kind of point of view used in your story. Aside from the above mentioned, another problem is when I get too caught up with my other works (ones that are more important) I won't be able to check on my fanfiction account. I also do not like beta-reading stories that take about a year to update because that would mean that I need to reread the whole story again to remember what happened. Also, I'm not comfortable writing or beta-reading mature scenes, so and story with the rating M will be rejected. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would most likely prefer Gakuen Alice, Mikan and Natsume shipping because I have been writing about them since 2006. If, however, the story you wish me to beta-read is not in this category, you can message me about yours and I can tell you if I am capable of beta-reading it effectively or not. I prefer the ratings K+ and T amongst the others. K, I will still most likely accept, but M I will reject. I am a Filipino, so I can accept works written in Filipino, but I would prefer English because I write in English. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I do not want to beta-read mature works (too violent, too gruesome and too lovey-dovey for my own good.) I also do not prefer any language other than English and Filipino. Yes, I can speak a little Japanese, but that won't do. Other than that, feel free to send me your work and I'll see what I can do. |
