Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
In college, I became the official proofreader in my group of friends. I've been called many things. "Comma Queen." "Grammar Nazi." "Just give it to Chi. She'll fix it." While tearing apart research papers is fun, my true passion remains fiction. When I beta, I really go in and tinker with the nuts and bolts of the story. I'm not someone you should give a story to if you're just wanting a proofread for grammar and spelling. For that, I'll just hand you the dictionary. As far as time expectation goes, that really depends on my real-life schedule. But normally, if I beta a chapter for you, I should have it completed no more than three days later. I do prefer to beta by chapter, not by entire story. But, if you have an outline for a story, please send it in with the chapter so that I can see where the plot will go. I'm limiting myself to three beta slots at any given time. One slot per author. Also, please remember to credit me in the description of each chapter I beta. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are character motivation, world building, and attention to detail. I am also skilled in the intricacies of the English language. I have a strong grip on grammar and sentence structure. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I want to improve my own writing by working on endings. I have trouble wrapping up a story after the climax. That's why I do a lot of one-shots. They allow me to practice endings each time I write one. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I enjoy character-building pieces with a comedic twist. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I do not beta anything rated M or anything yaoi/slash/mpreg. It's not my cup of tea. |
