Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
My name is Jewel, and I have a rather extended patience, which is good as a beta. I expect mainly stories with mediocre - minor characterization errors, if any, and a good grasp of spelling. Basically, normal expectations, and anyone can fill that role if they try. AUs happen to be my specialty, and I'm open to almost any pairing for any fandom. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have an extreme eye for misspellings and grammar problems. For my favourite charas, characterization errors will be easy to spot. Also, continuation errors are usually found within the first two-three times I read it over. Yes, I go over my beta work at least five times before returning it. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I spell words wrong myself, and if your fic is centric around a chara that I personally dislike or don't know, I'll be biased and my beta-ing not top-notch. (Though if I just don't know the chara, I'll probably search them up....) I'm also something of a procrastinator and am extremely busy with RL, so I won't exactly be the quickest beta ever, either. But I'll try my best. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Well~ For Prince of Tennis, I think Seme!Tez is criminal. I've always considered him an uke. And, well, even if I did say I'm tolerant of almost any pairing, I do like some over others...eg. Heavenly Pair, my OTP. And for Mermaid Melody, I'll be thrilled to beta any RyoKai or KaitoxGakuto. I'll be thrilled to beta any La Corda D'Oro.
I think I've also said before that AUs are my favourite type of fic to read, and therefore I'll be putting more effort into those... |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'd rather not beta anything with OCs. It's not that I'm fearful of Sues/Stus - I know nothing about your OC and how you plan things to come out, and will probably ruin something when I tweak the wording to make it sound more natural / grammatically correct etc., etc. |
