Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Let's get things straight. I am VERY strict on spelling and grammar errors and I don't sugarcoat my opinions on your stories. I am very blunt and not at all sympathetic, diplomatic, or sensitive to hurt feelings. My mom goes on and on about this particular social error. I love reading original stories, so if you have a cliche that is so old it could be my grandmother...well...it won't be pretty. (Ex: James-(does something bad to Lily) Lily-Reverse it! James-If you go out with me. Lily-I hate you Potter and will NEVER EVER go out with you!!!) I can put up with profanity that is placed in appropriate areas. I have read a lot of books, but some I believe don't agree with fanfiction(C.S. Lewis, L.M. Montgomery, so on). That's just my opinion, but I won't beta read for them anyway. Oh, and I absolutely HATE it when characters act out of character. That just totally defeats the purpose. Yeah ...If you want to know more about me, read my profile. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm just awesome, okay? No one can compete. Seriously, though, look above at the bio/profile for my strengths. Too lazy to type it over. Oh, yeah, and I guess it's important to mention that I am a speed reader? I've never taken any classes(never knew there were any until a friend mentioned them), but I can read a page in a book in about 12 seconds. No joke. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can only get on the computer and average of 2-3 times a week. I have no sense of commitment(oh dear, that will be bad for my marriage)I often start things but rarely finish because I am so lazy and can't bring myself to do work, no matter how minimal. So, if you want me, you will have to a) Annoy me to death and/or b) Be so good I can't leave you. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't really much care what I read, as long as they are not M or overly gooey romantic or disgustingly horrifying. I do have a faith, but I'm not overly religious and I am open minded. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Gooey romantic stories. I have nothing against romance(I love well written ones) but tasteless, cliche, overdone, unneeded romance is in my opinion, disgusting. As for slash, if the author originally made them together or there are hints, I don't care. But if there is no canon pair and ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE I will scream and curse and throw breakable objects. |
