Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hey, I'm Akai-Kurenai - just call me Akai. My style? I start by reading over the story. Afterwards, I correct any grammar-related mistakes, plot errors, or mis-characterizations. If needed, I may give suggestions to how the story should advance or develop.
I'm open to all kinds of stories, from feel-good stories to Korean-drama-tier tragedy to crack humor to yaoi/yuri/het romance and so on, so feel free to shoot me a message if you need beta-ing services. As stated above, my aim is to help writers who need an outside reader to evaluate their work and spot the errors, whether it is a typo or a plot hole.
While I am open to stories of all series, my number one preferred series is currently K-On!...old, I know, but it still has a special place in my heart. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm quite good at grammar editing - repetitiveness, inconsistencies, awkward wording, and poor structure are a few of the things I can help correct. If I'm reading a story from a series I'm a huge fan of, I'm also quite good at spotting any errors regarding characterization or plotlines. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I nitpick quite a lot. I guess it's sort of a good point as well, as I usually don't miss anything, but you might be annoyed when I agonize over what I consider to be "awkward wording" in one sentence out of your 10,000 word chapter. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I will most likely beta your story if I'm familiar with the series you're writing for, but I am all right with series I'm not familiar with as well - though for these stories, I'll only be able to help grammatically/structurally since I won't have a firm grasp of the characters. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Mpreg, futanari, my super-omegas-kawaii OC x the hot main character type stories, and the like. |
