Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I like to beta a piece of work as if I was a reader looking at it for the first time online after it has been published. I find that it helps to pretend that I'm not a critic but some anonymous reader. Also, I like it that I can picture the whole thing in my head s if it were a movie I was watching with my inner eye in my mind.
From the other fanfic's I've read before, I find that I'm very particular about grammar and spelling, as well as the format of the writing. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm quite good at grammar and spelling as well as sentence construction. Elaborate decription is definitely my forte (or so I've been told). |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I tend to bend towards a certain genre or style of writing which probably impales slightly my ability to look at other writing styles in a fair manner, but I'm working on it. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like stories that don't vary too much from the original. Obviously there are many changes when inventing fanfiction, but I find that I don't fancy too much those that totally change the aspect of a character. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Yaoi and Yuri not so much my cup of tea, although I've read a few. Also, I don't like those stories writtenin a very informal way with mobile text and chat shortcut spellings. Oh, and those that are written with a lot of A/N's in between too. Those, frankly are very distracting - if the grammar and spelling were not annoying enough already (despite the fact that the plot might have some potential). So if you're story is written something like: "So Sasuke said Fuck you Naruto and then went out on his bike to Kiba's place oh and before that he met a drunken Neji at ichiRaku rAmen ..." etc. etc., PLEASE do not ask me to beta your story. |
