Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm a pretty thorough beta reader. I betaread by first reading through a story--see if it keeps me entertained, if something is vague or confusing, etc. It's important to view the story through the eyes of the reader, first and foremost. Then I get down to the nitty-gritty, going over the piece for continuity, clarity, and so on. It takes me time to read through stories. It takes me a week to fully beta read a story or a chapter, but if you need it in less time I can meet that deadline as well. I beta anything from one-shots to multi-chapter fanfictions. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Characterization. Grammatically correct. Good at tweaking transitional phrases and elaborating descriptions. Can help with content and general flow of plot. Dialogue. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling: I am not that great of a speller myself and usually have to use Dictionary. com to find out if I'm spelling a word correctly. Or I might think a word's spelled incorrectly when it's actually spelled the way it is supposed to be. I try as hard as possible to make sure I'm spelling everything correctly. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
No preference in particular; though, I tend to mind stories that contain too many graphic sexual scenes. I find them tasteless and it presents the author as someone who has little to no talent writing a story with an actual plotline. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
M rated female x female. Many apologies but I'd prefer not read these types of stories. I do not mind reading or betaing the occasional yuri fanfiction as long as it does not contain a graphic sex scene. |
