Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well, I'd say I'm fast. Seriously, if someone sends me something to beta, I'll have it back to them within 24 hours at the most. But that doesn't mean my work quality suffers. I always check the spelling and grammar, then double back to make sure it didn't miss anything due to context. (i.e. 'whole' and 'hole', 'peace' and 'piece', etc.) Then I make sure that there aren't any continuity errors (If there are, I'll highlight them) and send it back to you. My only desire is that people accept any constructive criticism I give. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm very thorough. I'm fast. I don't bash people for story ideas. I offer help with either character or plot development if asked. I suppose if you really want to know the quality of my works as a writer, you'd have to read my stories, though I'm told they're good. As for references, you can ask Kapsule corp., Rei Ronin, huntsvilletiger, and Diinya-chan. I've done work for all of them. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I suppose my greatest weakness is the fact that if I'm TOO into a story, I can get over-excited and send it back with a few errors left in. I am getting better at it, though, and the errors are NEVER continuity errors. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Ah, preferences. Well, I prefer to work in three areas at the moment: Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and Avatar. That may change in the future, but it stands for now. And now, I shall expand into preferences of pairings to work with:
DBZ: Krillin/18, Goku/Chi-Chi, Gohan/Videl, and I'll even do some Vegeta/Bulma, provided it's not TOO OOC.
Naruto: Naruto/Hinata, Lee/Sakura, Ino/Chouji. The others are sorta up for grabs, but I'm VERY stuck on those three and know how they'd work.
Avatar: Sadly, I'm limited to Aang/Katara at this point. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Ah, yes. Right off the bat I can tell you: NO YAOI OR YURI! For those not in the know, that means no gay or lesbian love stories, thank you.
Also, no lemons please. I'll beta a fic with one in it, but don't expect me to tailor or add to it. I couldn't do it to save my life, as my experience in that area is... limited.
Now, I will divulge a list of pairings I will NOT work with.
DBZ: Any pairing that's NOT canon is out. Also, in the next gen, NO and I mean NO Trunks/Pan. I find it to be disturbing and borderline pedophilia. Also, no Goten/Bra (a.k.a. Bulla). As far as I'm concerned, Goten is in a canon relationship with Valese (Paresu or Paris in the Japanese).
Naruto: NOTHING related to Naruto/Sakura or Sasuke/Sakura, nor any crack pairings. (i.e. Kiba/Ino, Sasuke/Hinata, Naruto/Temari, etc.) Also, none of those stories where 'Sasuke stays in the village and becomes some good guy just because he and Naruto become friends'. (By Sasuke's own admission, Naruto was his closest friend, and look what happened!) It's way too OOC. Also, no stories that bash Gai and Lee for being... Gai and Lee.
Avatar: Well, mostly just no crack pairings or anything that REMOTELY resembles Zuko/Katara.
