Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello everyone! I'm L'Archel-Hotishi, and I'm a beta-reader and FF writer who works as a journalist in real life (I'm a feature-writer in a newspaper). What does this mean? When I read over peoples' stories, I don't just look at content and basic grammar, but proper use of literary devices, pacing and character development. Don't be shy to send material over! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strongest points are spotting inconsistencies in plot and my use of irony. I love plot-twists and think that they're the best way to spice up any literary work (in moderation, that is.) I'll be happy to assist author's who are stuck on creating plots or establishing character development. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Although I am a journalist, I'm not an editor. I go very fast when I type and read, and miss some spelling and grammar problems along the way. I'm improving, but you might want to read over your work once or twice after I've looked at it. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I really love stories that involve romance, mystery, suspense, horror, or friendship. Stories have to drip with emotion to grip and audience, so if your piece is a dry, Steinbeck tribute, you may want to pass that along to another reader. Make it fun! It's fanfiction, right? Don't get discouraged by flames or trolls, mmm'kay? |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I heavily dislike fantasy. Dragons, knights, princesses, princes and wizards? Not for me. I find it all, no offense, kinda childish. But, like I said before, I'm open-minded, so if you want me to read it, send it over! |
