Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've beta-ed a couple of things before mostly just giving input where needed. I'm big on grammar and spelling but unless it's atrocious I don't hold against a person. I love a good read and have been reading high above normal level for my age my entire life. I expect a good fanfic to not quite match the novel level but be good, enjoyable fun, and flow enough so that it's not a hassle. I won't pretend to be perfect in my writing because no one is and I'm still working on it. But I'm getting better and nothing helps one learn faster than helping someone else. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I specialize in Harry Potter, Star Wars, Naruto, Dragon Quest, Dragonball/Dragonball Z, Greek Mythology, and King Arthur (in that order). My strongest point is probably spelling and vocabulary. I can recognize if something flows due to how much I normally read and I am very good at the basics and some of the finer points of grammar, but not all.
But the best thing I can do as a beta-reader is brainstorm with you and get everything sorted out. Read my stories to get a decent idea. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Again I'm not perfect. I quite frequently have trouble fleshing out my stories and conversations. I also have a tendency to jump from one story to another in 'spurts' of inspiration. I need to learn to stick to one story and flesh it out. I'm working on that. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would really prefer AU, time-travel, and romance stories and comedy is much appreciated. As I said before Star Wars and Harry Potter are my big two when it comes to knowledge. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Slash. I'm sorry but I'm straight so I don't enjoy that. Nothing against the people of differing orientation. I just don't want to read about it. Same with Femslash and manpreg. Besides which most people who write that stuff are not of alternate sexualities and just creepy fangirls. |
