Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hey, I'm FantasyFan5, but you can call me Lauren. I won't be very harsh with editing, but I will tell you if something doesn't sound right or if your spelling is...well...horrible, but that's also my job as a beta, right? Right. I'll also suggest possible different ways to write a paragraph or a sentence just to make sure it's not confusing, among other things. I won't change the plot without your consent, though.
Okay, now that the serious stuff is over, I can make it fun too! No one wants some, boring stuffy editor *retch*. Apparently my writing's pretty funny (what? really?) so if you want me to, I'll do my best to put some humor in as well.
It's also probably a good idea to add here that I've actually edited a book that's published - if you ever find a book entitled Fishbone the Potter, make sure to check it out! (And just for proof, my name is on the back of the book.) And also, I'm writing my own original novel - 125 pages as of 12.28.08 and counting. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Spelling: Spelling Bee Champ - enough said. I take Honors English. I'm especially good with description and keeping characters 'real' or making sure that they don't deviate from anything that they wouldn't do in the books, factoring in whatever development may have gone on in your story. It really bugs me when characters are extremely OOC unless it's on purpose, so I will definitely fix that. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes when I read I may miss some little mistakes, such as a letter switched in a word or a space left out, but I will most likely read it more than once to try and lessen those mistakes. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't really have any preferences, other than they be for a series that I've read! |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I most likely will not beta your fic if it is horribly cliched and you don't want me to change the plot. And PLEASE, no lemons. |
