Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've published five stories, for Naruto and Harry Potter and I've got another one in the works. I've been writing since I was thirteen (I'm nineteen now) and I'm better than the average college student.
I'll read your story if you want, or just go over the plot with you, bounce some ideas around. In the end, though, the story is yours and yours alone. I won't write it.
I expect anyone whose story I read to, if they post, be responsible. Update regularly (unless life interferes in a major way) and announce it if you can't. Also, let me know if you can't write any more, so I don't get worried and think you are dead.
I do strongly suggest that you have some idea of where the plot is going before you post your first chapter, unless it is a series of drabbles. It will keep you on track and help avoid plot-holes.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Well, my grammar's pretty good for the most part. For me, it's easier to spot mistakes in others' writing than in my own, and I tend to be very critical when reviewing my friends' papers, for instance.
For shows I know, the characterization is good, as well. I'll make sure that all of your characters don't sound similar (something that really annoys me) and that they either act in character or have a good reason for not doing so.

My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
One of my biggest problems is the tendency to ramble. I usually end up going off on tangents in my stories, and end up finding ways to rationalize each one. I'm not very good at spotting those in others, either.
Complicated fight scenes confuse me. If you need a good beta for really complex fight scenes, find someone else, because I won't be able to follow what's going on.
I don't know how I'll be at certain R-rated scenes. I can probably tell you certain things, give you guidelines. Ie: a girl's hymen can be broken by stretching, a heavy period, or even horseback riding, ergo, the chances of a ninja having one at the age of eighteen are slim to none, even if she is a virgin.
Of course, I'm only human, so I won't be able to catch everything, but I will do my best to make your story better. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I will beta anyone's story for grammar, sentence structure, etc.
However, if you want help on OOC-ness, or believable plots, I'll probably have to know the subject to an extent. Just some basics that I know really well:

Marvel Universe, depending on which version you use

I'll read anything, but if you are doing a huge deviation from canon, i.e. Sirius Black didn't get throw in Azkaban, be sure to let me know that it is AU. |
