Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Before I only did requests, but now I will beta any relatively short length story. Long projects are not my thing, because I do not have the time or memory to devote to lengthy beta-ing projects. Please note that I will not hesitate to thoroughly point out any error which I find absolutely atrocious. Additionally, I will correct all mechanical errors for you, but may leave you with a few choices or suggestions on all things related to plot/character/dialogue/scenery. I also tend to leave comments throughout pieces. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My beta-ing strengths are grammar and description. I have a good grasp of the English language, enough to leave you with at most several small, easily overlooked errors. I am also relatively good at balancing dialogue, narration, and description (though that falls under narration...sort of) in writing. I would say that I'm pretty good at keeping things interesting, but to the point (nothing too bland).
If you're into the introspective, character study kind of writing, I'm definitely the beta for you. I myself prefer that kind of writing and have the most knowledge of it in comparison to my knowledge of other styles of writing.
And lastly, I have practice in "angsty" writing. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not your beta for character development and plot. Developing characters is just really not what I excell at. And likewise, if you're looking for a beta who will help you move your plot along, I suggest you start looking again. My kind of thing is more "snapshots" and "moments," and not long, epic, 100,000+ word tales of great adventure and love (though that IS what I like to read, but that's beside the point). |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
-I prefer the following fandoms: Naruto, BLEACH, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Chronicles of Narnia, and Fruits Basket.
-My preferred pairings can be seen on my writer's profile, though I will BETA most pairings, just not read/write them.
-Introspective character study-eque fics with a dash of romance are what I'd be able to help someone the most with, but I'll beta just about any genre.
-If you can make me laugh while I work (beta-ing whatever it is you need beta-d), you are officially my new best friend.
-Or if you make me cry.
-Angst is one of my (many) best friends. Likewise is fluff. And crack. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
-I refuse to beta lemons. They're just not my...well, cup of tea. I've read a few, but I'm not fond of them.
-I absolutely refuse to beta yaoi, yuri, shounen-ai, shoujo-ai, or slash. Het pairings only, please.
-I refuse to beta anything that is long (as in 6+ chapters or 30,000+ words, and that's stretching it). I do not have the beta-ing capacity for long term projects. |
