Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
First of all, if I beta something, you must leave a note at the beginning of your story that I have done so!
I consider myself to be a very...proficient beta-reader. Honestly, I think I'm better at catching mistakes in other peoples' writing than I am at actually writing a story. Spelling and grammar are my strengths, while I'm a bit shaky with punctuation. As a beta-reader, I will respect your stories, characters, and plots, and not try to change them in any way (unless I feel like there is something missing, or the story is not very fluid).
However, if you would like my input on a plot, character, setting, etc., then I would be happy to help. I can say that developing things is another specialty of mine. :)
When beta-reading, I will leave my corrections where they occurred and highlight them so you can find them easier. Any notes I have will also be where I think they best fit. If it is just a general note about what I have read, it will be at the bottom of the page. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
As I have said, I excel with spelling and grammar, and my punctuation skills are not too far off. When writing, I think I do well with descriptions rather than dialog. After writing numerous papers for my current AP Lit teacher, I have attained the ability to be concise and to the point (which has earned me many As on my papers). So I will immediately slash ramblings with my lovely Katana. After all, we should cut people so slack, I'm sure that they don't need a lengthy paragraph to understand a single point. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Well, lets see, I believe my main weakness would be with writing accurate emotions or responses to certain situations. Though I believe I have read enough to compensate for my lack of real-world experience. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I will beta most any story that I have read. However, you can still PM me to see if I will do it regardless if I've read it. Though, all I ask is that it be short, preferably a one-shot. If I have no idea of the story or its characters, then I will not beta full-length chapters.
Here is a list of what I have read or delved into (that's on FanFiction anyway).

Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will not do Twilight! Enough said.
There's really not much I won't do except for Crack-fics. I draw the line at beta-ing those. |
