Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I read through stories pretty thoroughly, first going through to mark grammar mistakes and then reading the story again to get an overall feel for larger problems that may be present in the story. I'll probably always read a story more than once unless it's excpetionally long.

Keep in mind that a beta reader is there to help you with your story, not to write it for you.
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have a really good grasp of grammar (or at least I think I do) and know how to spice up a story with better sentence variety, bigger vocabulary, active instead of passive voice, etc. I'm usually pretty good at noticing when a character is out of character. I can spot holes and inconsistencies within a story and offer ways to correct them as well as tell when a story isn't staying true to its orginal source. (In other words, the story is so markedly different from the game/anime/television show it's about that it doesn't make much sense.)

I have no life (no, really I don't), so I should be able to respond to your request relatively quickly.

I have a lot of experience with both reading and all kinds of writing (especially because I'm an English major in college)--academic, fanfiction, and personal writing that I do during my free time.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can write descriptively but often prefer not to; in other words, I'm a bit of a minimalist when it comes to writing, so if you're one of those people who loves flowery language and long, grandiose descriptions of things that go on forever, you might want to see someone else. Sometimes I go overboard with this, though, and my stories end up being not descriptive enough and too dialogue intensive, so that's a weakness of mine. I'm not great with spelling (hey, there's a reason we have spell check on our computers, right?), but can spot glaring errors. I have no sexual experience, so I probably wouldn't be great with lemons. I am willing to read them, however, considering I'm an adult in her early twenties, and I know there are a lot of teenagers on here who might not want to read them.

I'm not perfect, and make my own grammatical errors at times. I even had a couple on this profile, which I have since found and corrected, but am deeply embarrassed by; I hope that not a lot of people saw them.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so that could be a problem of mine, too, but I'm working on it.
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I enjoy angst, good action/adventure fics, and, perhaps most of all, romance. My favorite pairing is Ash/Misty from Pokemon, although I also enjoy May/Drew, Dawn/Kenny, Dawn/Zoey, Tracey/Daisy, and Delia/Oak. I'll beta fics for any ship, though, even non heterosexual ones. I prefer to read Pokemon fics, as they are my specialty, but I'll read fics for any of the genres listed below. I'm also a big fan of Haruka and Michiru (Uranus and Neptune) from Sailor Moon.
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I really dislike romance fics that present characters of opposing ships in such a negative light that they end up being out of character. Examples of this would include advanceshipping fics that portray Misty as a jealous b***h and Drew as an abusive stalker and pokeshipping fics that portray May as a bimbo whose only redeeming quality is her large chest. I hate chat room fics. I also really dislike AU Pokemon fics that take place in high schools; in fact, I'm not a fan of AU fics in general.

I tend to dislike fics that try to equally incorporate many shippings into one fic; these can be done very well, but most of the time they're done poorly. It's extemely difficult to write a good story that gives multiple ships equal billing because each ship isn't given the proper treatment; it's much better in my opinion to focus on one ship so that it's done well. The biggest example of this seems to be what I call the "poke/contest/ikari triple threat." I'm not a big fan of those fics.

I also dislike overly fluffy and cliched fics. An example of these would be AAML fics that end with a short "I love you" statment from each character and are then over. I prefer for there to more conflict than that or for the AAML to be more subtle.

I'm also not big on fics with lots of original characters or fics in which OCs take center stage. I don't care for cross-overs.
