Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I will first read the entire story and get an idea of the mood of the story and the pattern on which the characters will be acting upon before I start correcting anything other than spelling to make sure I don't change the author's intentions too much by making modifications to the sentence structures, the vocabulary, and the dialect and to see if some grammatical mistakes are made on purpose or not.
Also, when writing myself, I do a lot of revision so when I beta, I go over the text at least three times no matter how long it is. And as for availability, my hobby is reading fanfics even more than it is to write them so I work pretty quickly since I enjoy it so much! If I get tired of a certain fandom, I will still continue to beta the stories I'm assigned to until they're either done or discontinued though, same with stories that feature pairings that I'd no longer be into or never was in the first place, I'd still continue my job with the story.
I'm not picky with authors and their works and I have no minimum when it comes to skills or preferences in writing styles. The only exception to that would probably be someone who writes in MSN language like "brb rofl lmao r u stll hre? gtg ttyl!" all the time everywhere. I would enjoy being pen pals with the author of the story I beta but it's not a necessity if they don't want to or don't have the time. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm pretty good at capturing the mood of a story and rewriting parts upon it, and I'm good at spelling as well! Also, I can write according to accents so if someone is from England for example, then their speech pattern would definitely be different than someone that's from Japan or also if someone is from Texas or the gethos or something like that as well! I'm also good at lengthening things as in making sentences longer by taking for words to describe things and such. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm weaker when it comes to grammatical things because in a lot of my writing, I will make grammar mistakes on purpose to go with the speech pattern of a certain person. Examples such as saying 'anyways' instead of 'anyway' or saying 'kinda' and 'sorta' instead of 'kind of' and 'sort of' which is good if that's your intention but can be bad otherwise. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'm a really big fan of yaoi and shonen-ai and I also enjoy shojo-ai and some Yuri too! I like AU stories as well and crossovers with Harry Potter or Twilight or 6teen or animes that I know! I like pretty much all genres of story but I prefer humor, romance, and angst! I don't have a preference for the rating either and will beta at any rating from K to M! |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Hmm...I can't exactly think of anything to put here. Well, in the Naruto fandom, I don't like sasusaku at all and I'm not a fan of Orochimaru either. As for other fandoms, there's not much I don't like except for SeimeixSoubi and Ritsu-senseixSoubi in the Loveless fandom. |
