Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I try to look at every aspect of the story, and correct any mistakes I see. I might add a few adjectives to some sentences, or a whole new sentence that might add to the point of the story. Of course, keeping my additions is ultimately up to the author, and I won't be hurt if you don't use it. I also give out advice that I feel would make the story better in a positive way. I state the negatives in the story in a helpful (not hurtful) way.
If you want these qualities in a beta, I'm your girl! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm pretty experienced with catching little mistakes in grammar and/or spelling, since we have a twice-daily exercise in my English class where we have to find errors in mini-stories. I know when characters are not IC, and I despise OOCness (unless it is intentional). So if you have little characterization problems, I'll be sure to mention it. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I may not be critical ENOUGH at times. I may pass a story to be perfectly fine at first, but I try to eliminate that be going back after my first read-through and fix all the small mistakes that I find when I read it again slowly. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would beta fictions for Artemis Fowl, Twilight, or The Host. And my forte is romance, but I'll beta almost anything, really. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not that experienced with Horror, and if you're looking for someone who can give suggestions to make action-sequences better, I'm not that great at that. However, I will look for spelling and grammar with these, though. |
