Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have performed beta readings for several people and am willing to offer to others. When I get a chapter, I first read it quickly, then read again, but carefully, highlighting grammar/spelling errors. After that, I reread it, checking if I made any mistakes myself, or if I've missed anything. I'll look over the plot too, and will give suggestions, but the author can decide whether to use my suggestions or not.
I send the beta'ed chapter back within 2 days after I received the chapter, seeing as I spend too much time online anyway :-) |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm good with spelling and grammar, and also with descriptions and giving a certain 'feeling' to a story. Like it being very suspenseful, that the reader just feels there's something going on. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weakness is that sometimes I can't really see if a dialogue or action is in character or not. Most of the time I don't have problems with it, but it's something that needs some perfectioning. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love stories that have a good part of angst in them, but are still also romance. Actually I'll beta pretty much everything. Including poetry. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
- No smut, please. Though I will read it, I won't beta it, as I haven't reached the age of 18 yet.
- No slash stories. I don't have anything against them, it's just 'not my cup of tea'.
- No fantasy/supernatural stories, at least not when they're about science-fiction stuff. If you'd still like me to beta I'll read a chapter and then decide whether I will or won't beta. |
