Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've been editing my friend's stories for quite some time now and have much experience editing. I usually go through a story and first check for grammar mistakes, then look at spots that need characterization or elaboration and detail. If I really like something, I'll make a note of it. Comments when editing on a computer are put in double parentheses (( )). If anyone wishes me to edit something, I wish for it to be in a fandom that I know well, and that the person who wishes for my services takes their writing seriously. |

Grammar, syntax, and characters (making sure everyone is in character, making sure if they change in any way that change takes into account the character's personality and life experiences in addition to new experiences, etc). |

Not being as honest as I should be. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Anything dramatic, I suppose. Especially when there is psychology involved, or imprisonment. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not much on romance when it is a central focus. If it is a story that happens to have romance in it, then I am fine with it. But if the purpose is to get two characters together for no other purpose than that and lacks a deeper story, then I am likely not interested. Ie, romance novels are lol worthy, but I like the romance in Wicked because it is part of the story instead of the whole thing. |
