Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a frequent reader and writer on this site for over a year now, I know how hard it is sometimes to judge your own words. I often have my friends read my work before I enter it anywhere because it's always great to have another opinion about word choice, grammar usage, etc. Two pairs of eyes are better than one! I would love to be able to help my fellow writers in any way I can. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I know grammar and spelling very well and I have a wide vocabulary. I am also good at keeping the same point of view. (ex: continuing to keep 1st or 3rd person, or a specific character's POV) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I have always had a bit of trouble with past/present tense and occasionally proper quotation of works cited. However I don't think there is often works cited in a fiction story. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
TV shows, Movies or Book series stories are my favorite. I especially love to read stories about: Degrassi: The Next Generation, Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, Gilmore Girls, Kyle XY, Life With Derek, One Tree Hill, Dawson's Creek, Veronica Mars, and Harry Potter fanfictions. If you have a Sean+Emma Degrassi fanfiction or a Degrassi story with lots of the characters in it, I'm definitely a good beta. I know all about Emma and Sean's relationship and I am a plethora of knowledge about the show in general. Even if it is about another couple, that's cool too, I'm not biased. The same goes for Kyle XY and Kyle+Amanda stories. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Anime, Cartoons, Comics or Games stories. I know pretty much zero about those subjects. |
