Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have a creative eye, a solid literary and grammatical background, and plenty of love for reading and editing. I love to read almost more than I love to write and would appreciate being helpful to anyone who's looking for a second pair of eyes. I am always eager to beef up on emotion and description in everything I write, but style is also equally important. I respect every word that anyone has chosen to record, it takes a brave person to submit their writing to public eyes. Sometimes having a second pair of hands to groom over the sentences isn't a bad idea and I am more than willing to help. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I excel specifically in intricate details and imagery. I love to be handed a scene to imagine. A writer's words should paint as good of a picture for the reader as a photographer snaps through their lens. I am quick to catch awkward phrasing and anything that sounds too repetitive. There is a correct way to reiterate an important aspect in a piece but there is also a wrong way, betas are here to tell the difference. Another tool of mine is the use of inflection. The reader shouldn't have to choose where the stress on any phrase or story line may lie. That is the author's job but is something that may be easily overlooked during the creative process. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weakness resides in the fact that I find too much joy in punctuation. Therefore excess commas tend to sneak there way into my sentences and semicolons jump up where they are not always needed. However I believe strongly in the fact that punctuation is a relatively flexible tool among writers, it's here to help us. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I write for Twilight. I love the drama, romance, terror, danger, love, and attachment that rolls up into this category. Although I wouldn't object to doing pieces from other books, Meyer's spinoffs are probably my strongest suit. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I am not specifically hesitant towards any pieces. I'm pretty much open to anyone who needs a little help or reassurance. |
