Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I like to think of myself as a helpful and kind beta-reader. I'll help you with constructive criticism and suggestions and tons of grammar and spelling editing (my specialty!). And I'm not a very harsh beta, but I can be if you wish! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Bad grammar and spelling are my pet peeves, and they happen to be what I look out for the most. You can expect your fic to have amazing grammar and spelling when I'm through! I'm also pretty good at pacing, like when to draw out a scene, end it, or focus on something, etc. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I'll miss things, so I have to read through the work a couple of times before I can edit properly. This might mean a couple days of waiting for you, but never more than a week unless it's exam time! |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like stories that are well thought out and bring something new to the fandom. I'm not biased against AU fics, but I like canon-based ones that follow the plot better. Not to say that I won't edit AU stories, because I've written some myself and it can be fun! OC's are also acceptable, provided that they aren't Mary-Sues! I've written with them too and they can bring a new facet to a character. Otherwise, I'm not really picky about what I edit other than the stuff I mentioned below! |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not really into the angst-fics that turn characters into emo kids. Sure everyone has their dark moments, but I've seen some where perfectly happy characters cut themselves and think suicidal thoughts and that's OOC to me! I also don't really like anything that focuses on lemony-activities. If it has sexual themes, sure I'll edit, but if that's the ONLY focus of the story, then no thanks. |
