Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
In real life, I tend to be a very nice, soft person. But I do love to read and write fanfiction, and have for some time now. I love stories that have very good description, and ones that display the emotions of the main characters clearly using the narrator’s point of view. I love to read in general as well, like all of the other good people here on FF.net. I am, most of the time, searching for stories that have a little bit of depth. You know what I mean? Like when things that are unexpected happen. And these have to be well thought out twists! You can't just wake up one morning and say "Hey, I think I'm going to kill so-and-so today! This is unacceptable. Of course, if I can't tell, than it's probably fine. Maybe you fell asleep thinking about it and dreamt about it overnight-- then fine! So anyway, I also will not read stories that have any words in their titles or descriptions spelled wrong. All throughout the story, try to spell things right most of the time, because I know it's not always easy, but please, try to use spell-check! I also like to have the stories I read be from things that I have heard of. My favorite subject is Maximum Ride. I also like Harry Potter, Fruits Basket, Harvest Moon, Full Moon wo Sagashite, Naruto, Kingdom Hearts... There are so many! Just send me a message before you request me to beta-read something saying the type of story it is and what it is for, and I will tell you if that is something I will do. If you really want to get me with your story, then do Fang and Max in your Maximum Ride story! That definitely grabs me and pulls me right in to the story. And another thing. Try to make the first chapter of your story longer than two paragraphs. A paragraph is 8-10 sentences long. This makes me want to read it more, because I know I'm getting more out of it. I like to be open to all stories as long as I can understand them, but understand that I will not always sugarcoat things. I will give you the straightforward critique of your story, and I except you to take
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am good at looking for people who use words repetetively. I also tend to be honest, and give you whatever information you need to know. All of it, no matter how much it hurts you. This may sound mean, but it is definitely true, and some people need it. These are the type of people who need to just snap into the flow of fanfiction writing, and a good critique can usually do it for that person. I am good with people who are writing their first fanfiction, because I know how much it takes for you to go overboard if your first review is unfriendly. Some people just freak out, wondering all through the day, and other times when you cannot access the computer what is happening right then that is unbeknownst to them. I understand if you want me to be nice, and I will try to smooth out the critique so it sounds less like a critique, and more like a friend giving friendly advice. This I will always do if you ask. I am also a quite understanding person, if I do say so myself. I am not likely to get mad at anything you say, as long as you are not cursing my name. I also really enjoy helping others when it comes to writing, so it won't be like a chore to help you. I mean, it shouldn't to any beta-reader, but I'm just making sure you all know that! Please don't be afraid to ask me any questions as long as they do not concern my personal life.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I may go off subject, or type something totally random. Please, feel free to just snap me back to reality by sayin in all caps, "SHUT UP!!!" because I will understand. I also may not always be on because of homework and such, and I am a lazy bum and do it really slowly. I also have to do piano every day and study for quizzes/tests as well as for my separate Japanese lessons on Mondays. I can sometimes get really hyyper, and people have told me that they get hyper just by reading what I type. This actually tends to be true... I can just tell. Also, I may be rude sometimes. Not intentionally, of course, but if I'm in a bad mood... Yeow.
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I really love Maximum ride stories. I also like stories that are not focused on gay people. I have NOTHING against gay people, but I have trouble reading them. If this is the case then I will still beta-read it if you wish, but I will not talk about the storyline too much. As I have said before, FAX [FangxMax] is my kind of pairing. I could fall in love with your story! And also, I like reading Harvest Moon stories. I've written a few HM stories. Two of them are tragedies, and one is the classic where there is a new farmer who comes to the town. I love both of those types, as you can see from my stories. Over all, I love stories that I can understand. I like stories that have chapters that take no more than maybe 8 minutes to read, or else I will have to leave because I am a busy person. I also really like stories on Kingdom Hearts, but I sometimes do not understand them all that well.
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Hmm.... Some stories have storylines that are difficult for me to follow... But this is more of a thing that you send to me so I can tell you about it... So there really are no specific types of stories I won't do.
