As a beta-reader, I would read stories with a critical eye, but try my best to also include things I enjoyed or thought were done exceptionally well. My main focus would be the general flow of the story, making sure the vocabulary is varied, redundant phrases are removed or altered, verbs are conjugated correctly (I know many writers have languages other than English as their native tongue), grammar is such that it does not hinder comprehension, and details are complete without bogging the reader down with too much description.

My readers have told me that I am good at describing "action" scenes, keeping the flow of the fight suspenseful without losing detail. I want the readers to be fully immersed in the environment of the fight; the sights, the smells, and the sounds are what make it feel real.

As a writer, I tend to create characters or scenes in my mind without fully realizing what they will become (this is evidenced by the fact that I am revising my longest fic). I don't know quite how this would affect me as a beta-reader, since I wouldn't be in charge of the plot, that would be the writer's responsibility, but I can clearly define this as my greatest weakness in my own work. If any of my readers have noticed other large flaws, I'd appreciate if they could tell me so that I may include them in this section.

There are definitely certain series that I would be better at beta-reading, as I would be more knowledgeable about the material, but I don't think I would turn down any story based solely on the series it comes from. If you are writing a Naruto, Bleach, Soul Eater, Fullmetal Alchemist, Code Geass, Tsubasa, or even Star Wars fanfic, I can guarantee expertise. If you are writing about other Anime or other franchises in general, even ones you would consider "popular" or "mainstream," I would still work my best with grammar and flow, but it may not be as good as one from the series I've listed above, because I won't know alternate ways of phrasing certain elements.

Things I will NOT beta-read:
Yaoi/Yuri
Mature content based on sex/smut/lemons (I don't really care about language, violence or gore. There are a few select fics I have read that involve smut, and those stories involve REAL RELATIONSHIPS)
Completely cracked-out stories that never had a purpose and never will. I'm sorry, I realize comedic fics have their place, but I just don't have an interest in them.
